I keep coming across the concept of hauntology and I can’t help but feel truth in it. It’s the notion that we’re collectively haunted by the persistence of past cultural ideas, which has led to an inability to imagine the future, because all we’re doing is recycling old ideas.
I’ve been embracing nostalgia recently. There’s a warmth in it. But there’s also a sadness as I feel a deep yearning for the past. It seems futile to dwell in it too much, but it feels indulgent to remember certain things.

Penny sweets in a paper bag.
Using the same password for everything.
Saturday morning cartoons.
More than ever I’m stuck between two points – on one side, the older I get the more aware I am of the fact that I’m aging, but on the other, I become more aware that ‘growing up’ simply isn’t a thing.
Time takes everything eventually, but it seems that youth truly is just in the mind.
